Heroes of Wine: Pliny the Elder (23-79 CE)
3/17/2019: In his Natural History encyclopedia, Pliny attempted to collect everything we know about the natural world. Anthropology, botany, geography, magic, zoology... and even oenology. There are a lot of things that we know about the Roman wine culture of the time that we would not know without him.

Bordeauxing Rioja: The Origin Stories of Manuel Quintano & Luciano de Murrieta
12/17/17: Before Manuel Quintano came along in the 1700's, the wines of Rioja were still stored underground in clay vessels. Much of it spoiled completely and had to be dumped. Rioja needed an upgrade.

11/12/17: They called him "the Maestro". By definition this means "a distinguished musician, especially a conductor of classical music" or "a great or distinguished figure in any sphere". He conducted beautiful music in the form of wine.

The Dueling Montepulcianos: Vino Nobile vs d'Abruzzo
10/22/17: Essentially there are two different Montepulcianos. There's wine from a Montepulciano region and then there's wine made from the Montepulciano grape varietal. Both are red.
